MSKSI and Vista Murrieta High School Partnering for the 2020 - 2021 School Year to Support Young Girls Participating in ASB Club - Bronco Girl Magic

MSKSI has signed a Memorandum of Agreement to provide personal growth curriculum and Coding Clubs through MSKSI community partnership with Girls Who Code. The coding club will focus on girls historically underrepresented in Tech. The goal in this partnership with VMHS is to help develop student's social skills, emotional health, and to ensure, create, and sustain safe, healthy, and supportive schools, particularly for students of color. MSKSI seeks to provide space for safe discussions and forward-focused, productive activity around cultural, racial, and ethnic diversity to engage more inclusive ways of thinking.

MSKSI School of Awake Virtual Summer Camp "The Courageous Girl" was phenomenal!

The Courageous Girl Virtual Summer Camp was an experience that students nor mentors will soon forget! At a time when the world is in a time of mass protest for civil and human rights, we took a moment to breathe and focus inward and intentionally about how we will make a difference from a place of power, truth and love. We encouraged all the girls who attended to continue influencing and changing the world by sharing their stories and practicing concepts like mindfulness, self-care, authenticity, self-acceptance, and influencing others by first focusing on love of self, and then others, while at the same time speaking and acting on their truth.

First Pathway of 2020- The Science & Benefits of Aromatherapy
Posted February 20, 2020
We ended our STEAM Mentoring Pathway with a fun field trip to Be Kekoa Hair Studio & Apocothery in Old Town Temecula, California. Mentor Tricia Ambroziak walked the girls through applying what they have been learning about over the past 5 weeks about cosmetic chemistry and the therapeutic effects of essential oils. When the girls finished making their scented lotion, they named their product and now have the knowledge to formulate their own therapeutic products using essential oils! Many thanks to the Be Kekoa team, Owner, Brandi Kekoa, and Patricia Ambroziak, Cosmetic Chemist for welcoming us to their beautiful facility and supporting our girls in learning about the unexpected ways that STEAM can be found in all career paths!
